MENA Impact Joins UN Women’s Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

We are proud to announce that MENA Impact has officially joined the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a global initiative by UN Women and the UN Global Compact that guides businesses on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community.

From the inception of MENA Impact, diversity and inclusion have been at the core of our mission—ensuring equal opportunities for individuals regardless of gender, race, age, or background. As a certified B Corp, our commitment to purpose-driven business naturally aligns with the seven WEPs principles, which emphasize high-level leadership, inclusive workplace policies, community engagement, and transparent reporting.

“By adopting the WEPs, we are not only holding ourselves to the highest global standards—but also using our platform to advocate for a more equitable business environment in the Middle East.”
Nadine Zidani, Founder of MENA Impact

Why It Matters

Gender equality is not only a moral responsibility—it’s a business imperative. Companies that promote inclusive leadership, fair policies, and equitable practices experience higher performance, greater innovation, and stronger employee engagement. That’s why the WEPs are deeply aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and with MENA Impact’s belief in business as a force for good.

In the UAE, 165 companies have already signed the WEPs. While this is a positive step, we believe more businesses should take action. Signing the WEPs is an opportunity to lead by example—and to join a global community committed to meaningful change.

Walking the Talk

Earlier this year, we partnered with Veolia Near & Middle East to host an event celebrating women’s leadership. Held on International Women’s Day, the event featured Ines Cases, Partnership and Coordination Specialist at UN Women, and brought together changemakers across the UAE to explore how organizations can break barriers and drive equality from within. Read more about the event.

We’ve also created a dedicated WEPs page in our Tools for Impact section, offering practical resources and guidance for companies interested in joining the movement.

Our Call to Action

We invite fellow organizations in the MENA region to explore the Women’s Empowerment Principles, reflect on their practices, and take bold steps toward equality. Let’s lead the change—together.
