MENA Impact at the World Green Economy Summit 2024

We are thrilled to share highlights from our participation at the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) 2024 and the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), which took place from October 1-3, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre

Represented by our CEO, Nadine Zidani, MENA Impact engaged with global leaders, innovators, and sustainability experts to explore the latest advancements in driving the green economy.

The summit commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony, featuring distinguished speakers such as HE Surangel Whipps Jr., President of Palau, and HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators.

The ceremony set the tone for two days of insightful discussions on crucial themes, including decarbonization, climate finance, and the circular economy.

We participated in several sessions that resonated deeply with our mission to promote sustainability in the MENA region.

Here are some key highlights from the sessions:

  1. Empowering Small Businesses for a Sustainable Future: A keynote delivered by HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan highlighted the essential role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the green transition.

  2. 4Ps: Adding Another ‘P’ to PPP: This session focused on expanding public-private partnerships to include philanthropists, opening new avenues for resource mobilization. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for driving impactful sustainability projects in the MENA region.

  3. How Can We Use AI to Help Create a Sustainable Future?: This session explored the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in driving sustainable development.

  4. The Critical Role of Youth in Shaping a Sustainable Future: Featuring young leaders and innovators, this session aligned with our commitment to empowering youth. The discussions reinforced the importance of inspiring and supporting young voices in the sustainability movement.

  5. Consumer Spending and the Importance of Behaviour as a Pillar of the Circular Economy: This session emphasized that sustainable practices extend beyond policies to everyday choices. The insights shared resonated with our mission to foster awareness and promote informed decision-making in the community. In conjunction with WGES, we also explored WETEX 2024, the region’s largest sustainability and clean energy technology exhibition.

Organised by DEWA, WETEX showcased cutting-edge innovations driving the UAE’s leadership in the green economy. We’re particularly impressed by DEWA’s remarkable initiatives that underscore the importance of innovation in sustainability.

Overall, the World Green Economy Summit and WETEX provided an incredible opportunity for MENA Impact to exchange ideas, learn about emerging solutions, and further our mission to create a more sustainable future.

We are excited to carry forward the insights gained and continue collaborating with fellow leaders and organizations committed to driving meaningful change in the green economy.

As we reflect on this transformative experience, we are reminded of the power of collaboration, innovation, and shared vision in shaping a sustainable future for our region.

Together, we can drive the collective change needed to secure a greener tomorrow.
